The Death Of The Yoruba Monarch Alaafin of Oyo

 
                          

The demise of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who was said to have died   April 22, 2022 at Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, AMSH has thrown the Yoruba race into mourning.

According to sources at the hospital, the king who was 83 years old was brought into the hospital and was been treated of a chronic illness five days before his death. Though at some point in time of the news being spread, there was confusion over the validity of the news on social media as a result of the statement made by the king’s Media and Publicity Director, Bode Durojaye where he urged members of the public to disregard the news of the king’s death saying the paramount ruler is hale and healthy. The palace of the demised king later released a statement confirming his death, this was also follow by Durojaye’s concise statement confirming the death of Alaafin.

The remains of the top Yoruba traditional ruler were taken to Oyo town in the early hours of yesterday for burial rites where his first son, Prince Tunde Adeyemi, and his siblings received the remains of the Late king and proceed with the funeral rites which started at 11:55am with the presence of huge crowd of sympathizers.

After Masud Ajokidero the chief imam of Oyo state  and other Islamic clerics performed the funeral, Janazah, prayers at 12:35 pm outside the Aganju Forecourt, the remains of the late monarch were taken to the palace where traditionalists held final rites behind closed doors after which his body was brought out to the main hall where he used to welcome visitors when he was alive.

Sources close to the AMSH had revealed that the late Monarch arrived at the hospital on the 17th of April where skilled specialist had worked and tried their best in reviving the late king’s life but did not survive the chronic illness. However, as at last night, official report is yet to be gotten form the AMSH management regarding the demised of the king.
