STESA CONGRESS '18: STESA RELINQUISHES HER PRO FROM OFFICE
The much anticipated Science and Technology Education Students Association’s first congress for the 2017/2018 academic session held on the 28th of June 2018, at the Faculty’s SEC Lab. The congress which started around 4pm with a minute silence for the deceased Financial Secretary of the Association Com. Adedayo Adeyinka P (Oga Tisa), addressed issues pertaining to the association. Some of the salient issues discussed included lateness of executive members to the congress, inactiveness of the Public Relations Officer (PRO), state of the association, Constitution of Dinner and Award night Committee, report from the constitution review committee amongst others.
After the association’s president Com. Yusuff Oladeji Afeez (Sir Useful) introduced the executive members around, a concerned congressman asked why all executives were not around at the time of introducing them. The President however, explained to the congressmen that other members of the executives already told him they will be some minutes late for the meeting due to the fact that the time slated for the congress clashed with their test time.
Com. Yusuff gave brief explanation on the state of the association. He informed the congress about the empowerment program organized by the association which is the first of its kind in the history of the department and at the Faculty level at large. He also gave update on the renewal of the Association. The Assistant Financial Secretary thereafter, gave account of the financial status of the association.
Furthermore, the Constitution review committee was called upon to give report of the progress of the constitutional review, in which they gave a satisfactory report. Dinner and Award night committee was also constituted at the congress; they were sworn in and also promised to work assiduously for the proper and effective planning of a befitting Dinner and Award night ceremony.
When it was time for Any other Business (AOB), Com. Oderinde Temitayo talked about the inactiveness of the Public Relations Officer, Com. Olagoke Damilola, he explained to the congressmen that the PRO is not competent enough. After so many deliberations on his issue, the congressmen resolve to relinquish the PRO from office and also told him to go and learn how to carry out the functions of a PRO before been recalled back.
After all issues had been resolved to the satisfaction of the congressmen, the congress was adjourned at around 8pm.
