COVID- 19: OAU EMBARKS ON DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF MATERIALS

Obafemi Awolowo University ( OAU) embarked on sensitisation and distribution of relief materials to Ife community as part of their contribution to fight against Corona virus.

The items distributed by OAU included 179 packs of 5kg Garri, seven and half bags of 50kg Garri, 200 packs of OAU bottled waters,500 loaves of OAU bread and 200 bottles of 250ml ifetizers( hand sanitizers) according to the University Public Relations Officer .

The University Public Relations Officer  Professor Abiodun Ola nrewaju stated that " the Vice- Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede made the disclosure on Thursday during the release of the materials to the President of Ife Development Board, Comrade Lawrence Awowoyin at Ooni's palace, Ile-ife."

 The University Vice-Chancellor stated: "We are aware of the fact that the lockdown has denied members of the community the opportunity to go about their normal daily activities, there by negatively affecting their means of livelihood. We, however, take solace in the fact that since  the advert of the Corona virus disease in Nigeria and Osun state, there is no single case of COVID -19 in Ile-Ife and it's environs"

He stated further: "It's our prayer that no-case situation remains so in the entirety Ife community"

NO CURFEW, EVERYTHING REMAINS INTACT IN LAGOS SAYS DR(MRS) JOKE SANWO-OLU

The wife of  Lagos State Governor, Dr( Mrs) Joke Sanwo-olu has taken to alert the general public contrary to misinformation  that curfew has not been announced in Lagos  State. She said "The state Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu dropped the idea of imposing a curfew in the state meant to allow the fumigation exercise of public space." Relying on expert advice the Governor said the disinfectant is non toxic, noting that the exercise has commenced. He said: I'm pleased to note that we have taken possession of over 200 disinfecting machines, and starting today, we will be disinfecting all major highways, bus stops, markets, parks and other public areas." The Death Of The Yoruba Monarch Alaafin of Oyo

                             The demise of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who was said to have died    April 22, 2022 at Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, AMSH has thrown the Yoruba race into mourning. According to sources at the hospital, the king who was 83 years old was brought into the hospital and was been treated of a chronic illness five days before his death. Though at some point in time of the news being spread, there was confusion over the validity of the news on social media as a result of the statement made by the king’s Media and Publicity Director, Bode Durojaye where he urged members of the public to disregard the news of the king’s death saying the paramount ruler is hale and healthy.
