2022 FRESHERS DEBATE

 



Day 2 of the Fresher’s orientation week started with an opening prayer, in which the national anthem and the school anthem follow respectively. The programme which was a courtesy of the office of the vice-president student union was an interfaculty Pick and Talk/debate which took place at Oduduwa hall.

Following the opening of speech was the introduction of all faculty leaders and students union after which all faculties were introduced to the audience. The introduction of Judges follow immediately during which the MC of the programme expresses his satisfaction at the presence of the judges on ground “even though some were yet to arrive the table still look balance” he said.

Representatives from all faculties were introduced to the audience, after which the modalities of the debate were stated by one of the judges. The modalities which include dressing, content, Delivery, time Management and Podium management are what the contestant will be judge with. It was further announced that only 8 faculties will proceed to the next stage after the first round.

The faculties were group into four during the first round. Faculty of Clinical sciences, Agric and Education fall under group 1 speaking on the topic “Breaking The Gender Bias; Visible Or Not”

Faculty of Dentistry, Administration, Pharmacy falls under group 2, speaking on the topic “ASSU Strike A Justify Course or Curse”

Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Law, Social science falls under group 3, speaking on the topic “ Maximum Shi shi to be suspended or not”

While the last group goes to faculty of Science, Art, Technology and EDM, speaking on the topic “Yahoo yahoo, An Economic Lifeline Or Lifewire”

Faculty of Agric, Clinical sciences, Admin, Dentistry, Basic Medical science, Social science, Science and Art proceed to the next stage which was an impromptu pick and talk session. Each speaker were given a maximum of one minute to speak with their faculty representatives after announcing their topic to both the judges and the audience.

Faculty of social science, Basic Medical science and Dentistry came out First, Second, Third with total point of 64.0, 61.7,and 61.2  respectively at the end of the debate.
