ACJ-OAU INDUCTS NEW MEMBERS

"The number one recognized profession by Nigeria law is the media (Journalism in quote)" according to section 22 of the 1999 constitution.

Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJ-OAU) inducted 31 students into it's folds on the 31st, July 2021. This marks the beginning of new career life in a good number of OAU students  as they were all inducted fully into the profession of journalism. 

The  chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr Wasiu Ajadosu graced the occasion as the Guest Speaker who was represented by his secretary Mr Bukola Elufadeijn.

The guest speaker speech stresses on the importantance of the profession Journalism and challenges faced by the media.
He gave guiding technique to produce an outstanding Journalist of the time as there  A's which are ASSERTIVE, ADAPTIVE and ATTRACTIVE..
He ended his lecture with a quote “ Evil triumphs not cause of the misleads of bad people but cause of the silence of the good ones".

 One of Great Ife Alumni,Mr Adejumo Kabir an assistant investigative editor at "Hum Angle" who was  an investigative journalist at Premium Times.

He said; "Journalism isn’t just about writing and gathering information but printing and publishing what someone else does not want published and known to the public." 
Holding authority accountable at all time which can be conveniently regard to as one of the motion of Journalism." 

He emphasizes more on the points written in his book “CAMPUS JOURNALISM(BEGINNER’S HANDBOOK)” which was distributed at the commencement of his session.
Mr Ismael Taiwo, a publisher at Oodua nations admonished the newly inducted Journalist after the oath was taken.

Followed by this is a brief moment with the editor of the nation in person of Mr Olukorede Yishau on a video tape. He congratulated the Inductees gave them his piece of advice on the new career.

ACJ-OAU President,Titilayo Babatunde Dayo  urged all Campus Journalists  to be more effective in the practice on campus especially at this period when students union has being reinstated.

OSUN STATE GOVERNOR SIGNS AMOTEKUN BILL INTO LAW

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola signed Amotekun bill into law today at the governor's office in osogbo before the state law makers and members of the executive. The Death Of The Yoruba Monarch Alaafin of Oyo

                             The demise of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who was said to have died    April 22, 2022 at Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, AMSH has thrown the Yoruba race into mourning. According to sources at the hospital, the king who was 83 years old was brought into the hospital and was been treated of a chronic illness five days before his death. Though at some point in time of the news being spread, there was confusion over the validity of the news on social media as a result of the statement made by the king’s Media and Publicity Director, Bode Durojaye where he urged members of the public to disregard the news of the king’s death saying the paramount ruler is hale and healthy.
