Students' Union Chief Security Officer Gets Relieved Of His Position

It was a torn in the flesh as a case counted as rumor which involved the Students’ Union Chief Security Officer, Ojuko Taiwo Paul, also known as T-Paul harassed two female students from the department of Dramatic Arts and the department of History, on the 16th of August, 2021.
The students, who are roommates in Mozambique hall of residence said their phones and some other gadgets were stolen which they reported to the Division of Students Affairs, DSA but unfortunately, the DSA told them they can’t be of help. And the Students’ Union CSO too was not of any help rather they harassed and bullied the female students.
In a statement by one of the Students, “My phone was stolen, three phones and a laptop from my roommate and one other girl. We went to report at the DSA, they said there is minimal to what they can do. We were advised to report at the SU, we have been going there whenever they summoned us, sometime, we went to SU at around 1pm and we were there till 11pm.
This happens occasionally, even we can just be called to come to the SUG or anywhere giving us a speculated time not regarding what we are doing or how busy we are. So, they came to my room on Friday that they want to see everybody involved in it on Monday evening by 5pm, that day I was at Pit Theatre till past six on Monday.
It was raining that day and I had to do a meeting of a course am offering, DRA 102 group 4 meeting. I was on my way back with a lady that had umbrella, we were going together, when we reached PG hall moving close to a tent along the road. I heard my name being called, I answered and looked back, it was the Students’ Union officials.
They said that you think you can run from us, the next thing they asked for was my phone and asked me to bring it out, they collected it and asked me to followed them, I followed as they instructed. It was to my surprise that we trekked from Mozambique hall of residence to SUB under the rain with no umbrella or anything. As we were going, I asked for my phone in order to call my brother, my phone was given to me. A lady which I supposed is a law student said that my phone should be collected, which she said in a rather abusive way.
The conversation between the lady and I ended up in “a maintain your lane and don’t cross it”, because I was tired and needed rest and I am having a test the following day. So, I called my brother, my brother called King to follow us to SUB, I met King and we got to SUB. At SUB, I sat down on a chair inside the SUG office to make myself comfortable from the rain that drenched me. From the back, someone slapped me and when I looked back it was the Students’ Union CSO saying that I was asked to come here by 5’o clock and I didn’t answer, who do I think I am?. I told him I was coming from rehearsal, he asked me to shut up. He asked my other roommate they dragged from Mozambique hall of residence, the time we were summoned, she didn’t answer, they slapped her.
The girl reacted and he slapped her again but I don’t know if the girl slapped the CSO back, the CSO slapped her the third time that the nose ring the girl had fell off. She was struggling to retaliate from the slap. So, King called my brother that seven guys are here with us, whatever he wants to do he should do it quick.
My brother called the school CSO, the school CSO called the SUG president that he heard they were beating student at SUG, the president ended the call. He asked who called the school CSO?
One of the officials pointed at King saying he has been making phone calls since that his phone should be collected. They surrounded King and the SUG president asked him to call the school CSO that the information he gave him wasn’t true, they threatened him. King called the school CSO that the information was false, the school CSO called my brother that why will he be giving him false information? So, we were there, they told us we were victim of circumstances and the person that slapped me wasn’t feeling remorseful. My roommate there called her brother, her brother and her boyfriend with some guys came down to SUB. The people that were there before had already left with new people there, they were asked why would they slap her (my roommate)? They said she slapped him first (SUG CSO), they were threatening one another and nothing was done, we were harassed and bullied. The next day, I went to DSA and filed a report based on the harassment from the SUG".
It was reported that the  CSO fainted as at the time the students from Dramatic Arts and other departments wanted him to be paraded. So, he was taken to the health center, the protesters followed him to the health center. As they were waiting for him to come out, they were told he has been transferred to another hospital, so they left in anger.
The Chairman of the Electoral Commission known as Efem Castro arrived at the DSA and the students expressed their sadness.
A release from the Electoral Commission Chairman confirmed that the Chief Security Officer, Ojuko Taiwo Paul was guilty and punished for the harassment of female students. He was relieved of his duty as the Chief Security Officer of the Student Union because of his unacceptable act which made him unfit to be a member of the committee.
