Manchester United Interested In £8.5m-Rated Bayern Munich Midfielder

Recent reports suggests that Manchester United are keen on signing Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso in the ongoing transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to add to his options at the centre of the park.
A couple of days ago, reports from German media outlet Bild revealed that Bayern are willing to sell the Frenchman for as low as €10 million (£8.5m) as he has just one year remaining on his current contract.
The Bavarians did explore the possibilities of offering the 27-year-old a brand-new contract; however, after Julian Nagelsmann’s demand for RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, they are in desperate need of money to fund the recruit.
Tolisso joined the Bundesliga champions from Ligue 1 side Lyon in 2017 for a fee in the region of £38 million as he was expected to establish himself as one of the most complete midfielders of all time in the following years; however, it would be an understatement to say that a series of grievous injuries have crippled his career.
The 28-times France international has featured just 57 times in Bundesliga over the course of the last four seasons, and even last term, a torn tendon limited him to just seven starts in the domestic league.
In an interview with L’Equipe last season, Tolisso revealed that he was completely focused on regaining his fitness.
“I want to focus on the Euros. I’m not asking any questions about my future. I was so focused on my comeback in the past three months that I haven’t had any thoughts.”
Nonetheless, if he manages to secure game time on a consistent basis, one can expect him to reach the same levels he did before his move to Germany.
Having secured two big signings already – Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t in a position to splash the cash on another midfielder this summer, but a risk of £8.4m could be worth taking.
Nemanja Matic is not getting any younger, whereas Paul Pogba’s future at the club seems uncertain as he hasn’t penned down a new contract yet. Although Tolisso is primarily a central midfielder, he could be initially asked to fill in the defensive midfield position.
